FINAL WORKS CRITERION WATER PLANT

The City of Bulawayo is currently implementing the Bulawayo Water and Sewerage Services Improvement Project (BWSSIP) being supported by the African Development Bank whose objective is to improve municipal water supply and sanitation services contributing to the improvement of the health and social wellbeing of the population of Bulawayo.

To this end, Council would like to advise members of the public that the contractor will be installing the inlet and outlet flow meters and replacing of backwash valves on Friday, 12 March 2021 from 06:00 hours to 08:00 hours on Saturday, 13 March 2021. The minor works are to allow for the completion of the project.

During this period, water treatment capacity at Criterion Water Works will be throttled, reducing Water Supplies to the following suburbs feeding from Criterion clear water reservoir;

Bellevue, Newton West, West Somerton, Montrose, Southwold, Sizinda, Tshabalala, Nkulumane 1-12 & Nketa 6,7 & 8, Mpopoma South, Old Pelandaba, Iminyela ; Nketa 9, Emganwini, Pumula North, Pumula East, Pumula South Phase 1,2 & 3, Old Pumula A, B & C Pelandaba West (Glendening), Khami.

The recovery of the reservoir is expected to occur over a period of 24 hours and supplies for the areas will be from Sunday, 14 March 2021 at 08:00 hours.

Residents are advised to conserve water accordingly and ensure that taps remain turned off in case of earlier completion of the said works.
